A remote five-day route through shepherd country in the Malana Valley to the sacred Dev Ropa meadow.

Walk beyond the ordinary, into Dev Ropa, a sacred meadow hidden deep in the Malana Valley. This 5-day trek follows a mountain stream through remote shepherd country to one of the Parvati region's most striking, little-visited alpine meadows.
Drive from Kasol to Malana Dam and begin the trek towards Behali through the Malana Valley. Overnight camp at Behali.
Trek through dense forests and vast shepherd meadows (thatch). Reach Mota Grahan and camp beside the river.
A longer mountain trail takes you towards Bogdi, the base camp for Dev Ropa. Overnight at Bogdi.
The highlight of the trek: cross three steep sections alongside a sacred mountain stream to reach the vast alpine meadows of Dev Ropa. Explore, enjoy the views and descend back to Bogdi.
Descend through the forest and meadows towards the roadhead. Drive back to Kasol and conclude the trek.
Timings and campsites can change with weather, trail conditions and the pace of the group. Your trek leader makes the final call on the day.
Challenging
Graded Moderate-Difficult on the route notes, so it is listed under Challenging.
Dev Ropa is graded Moderate-Difficult: a 5-day trek with sustained walking through remote terrain and a demanding highlight day crossing steep sections alongside the mountain stream. Prior trekking experience and reasonable fitness are recommended.
Experience needed. This is a challenging route. We will ask about your previous treks and fitness before confirming your place.
The highest point on this trek is about 13,450 ft. At this height many people feel the thinner air: headaches, poor sleep or loss of appetite are common early signs of altitude sickness. Drink water, walk at a steady pace and tell your trek leader straight away if you feel unwell. The usual first response to worsening symptoms is to stop climbing or descend.
Your trek leader or guide may change the plan, wait out bad weather or turn the group around if conditions or anyone's health make it unsafe to continue. Please tell us about any medical conditions or medication when you enquire, and carry a personal first-aid kit.
Best done June to October, once the trail through the Malana Valley is clear and stream crossings are manageable.
Starting price₹8,000per person
Prices and inclusions can vary with dates, group size and itinerary. We confirm the final price and a written list of inclusions before you pay.
Kasol is the base, reachable by road from Bhuntar Airport (Kullu) or by overnight bus/cab from Delhi via Manali. Go Karavan arranges the transfer from Kasol to the Malana Dam trailhead.
It's an offbeat route deep in the Malana Valley, appealing to trekkers wanting a genuinely remote, less-visited meadow.
It's graded Moderate-Difficult given the terrain and stream crossings, so some prior trekking experience is recommended.
